Heninger Garrison Davis is helping lead the fight
for community residents seeking compensation for
injuries and property damage caused by the
catastrophic chlorine fire in Conyers, Georgia, in
May, 2004.
Great Lakes Chemical Corporation and BioLab, Inc.
The fire spread toxic chemicals through the
Conyers community and beyond, causing serious health
problems and damaging homes and businesses.
Heninger Garrison Davis and the law firms it has
allied with have filed a lawsuit for the victims
against Great Lakes Chemical Corporation and BioLab,
Inc. The suit seeks compensation on a class
basis. Thousands of persons could become members of
the class. Local businesses also are represented.
Health Problems from fire in Conyers Community
Heninger Garrison Davis is nationally known and
respected for representing plaintiffs in large-scale
lawsuits. The firm's attorneys have identified
several health problems caused by the BioLab fire,
including inhalation injuries to lungs and throats,
burned eyes, and acute respiratory distress,
particularly among asthma sufferers.
Lewis Garrison, who is our lead attorney in the
case, intends to prove that the disaster could have
been prevented.
“BioLab knew before the fire that
there were risks of dangerous chlorine releases,” he
told the press when the lawsuit on behalf of victims
was filed. The Rockdale Citizen, the Associated Press, and Atlanta-area TV and radio
widely reported the lawsuit, which is ongoing. Mr.
Garrison notes, “Every day, more people hurt by the
fire contact my firm seeking help. We will help
them.”
“The grim toll of BioLab's toxic chemicals is
rapidly adding up, no relief in sight except the
people's legal rights,” Mr. Garrison
asserts. Heninger Garrison Davis' goal, he explains,
is to obtain the compensation the victims deserve.
To help achieve the goal, the firm has allied
with the national law firm Zimmerman Reed, PLLP, and
other prominent law firms that, like Heninger
Garrison Davis, are experienced in large-scale,
complex cases.
