W. Lee Gresham, III

Education:

W. Lee Gresham, III was born in 1963 in Birmingham, Alabama. He is a 1985 graduate of Auburn University, from which he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English, and he earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1988.

Legal Experience:

Mr. Gresham has devoted his practice to representing injured individuals and companies in complex product liability, personal injury, wrongful death and business cases. Mr. Gresham joined Heninger Garrison Davis, LLC in May of 2007, having practiced for a number of years with another civil litigation firm in Birmingham, Alabama. While at that firm, a large part of Mr. Gresham's work was devoted to representing individuals who were injured or who died as a result of having been exposed to asbestos or to other toxic substances.

In 2005 and 2006, Mr. Gresham lead the fight in Georgia on behalf of hundreds of injured asbestos plaintiffs against corporate-backed legislation that was drafted to deny injured individuals the right to hold accountable the companies that made, sold and distributed the asbestos-containing products that caused them to develop asbestos-related cancers. After successfully arguing at the trial level that this legislation was unconstitutional, the asbestos companies appealed the trial courts' rulings, and Mr. Gresham then argued the same issues before the Supreme Court of Georgia. On November 20, 2006, the Supreme Court of Georgia ruled unanimously in favor of Mr. Gresham’s position and affirmed the trial courts’ rulings that the asbestos legislation was unconstitutional.

Mr. Gresham continues to represent hundreds of individuals in a number of states who have been injured as a result of exposure to asbestos and to other types of toxic substances. Additionally, Mr. Gresham represents individuals and companies that have been injured or harmed as a result of the negligence or fraud of others. Mr. Gresham has earned an "AV" rating from the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, which reflects that he has achieved “the height of professional excellence” and that he exhibits “the highest levels of skill and integrity.”

Professional Memberships and Affiliations:

Mr. Gresham is a member of the Alabama State Bar (Environmental Law Section), and he is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Alabama and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Mr. Gresham is a member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA) (Section on Toxic, Environmental, and Pharmaceutical Torts), he is a Sustaining Member of the Alabama Association for Justice (ALAJ), formerly the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association, and he is a member of the Christian Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA).
