Seroquel (Quetiapine Fumarate)

Davis is investigating injuries caused by the drug
Seroquel, manufactured by AstraZeneca. This oral
medication is an atypical antipsychotic drug that is
used to manage the symptoms associated with
schizophrenia and was approved by the FDA in 1997.
Since that time, millions of prescriptions have been sold.
Research has shown that AstraZeneca
aggressively marketed and promoted Seroquel for "off
label" use that was beyond its FDA approved
indications at the time in question.
A study that was released in August
2003 found three commonly prescribed schizophrenia
drugs, including Seroquel, increased the risk of
diabetes compared to older antipsychotic drugs.
A growing number of reports have been finding a link
between some atypical antipsychotic drugs and Type 2
diabetes.
