Mary Bishop grew up in Maryville, Tennessee and knew from a young age she wanted to pursue a legal career. Inspired by her parents, both attorneys, Mary saw firsthand the impact lawyers can have by advocating for their clients and helping them navigate difficult circumstances.
Mary attended Samford University on scholarship, where she majored in political science and minored in Psychology, graduating magna cum laude. She then received a scholarship to attend Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law where she obtained her Juris Doctor.
While at Cumberland, Mary was actively involved in both advocacy and student leadership. She served as Senior Class Treasurer for the Student Bar Association, an Admissions Ambassador, Vice President of Christian Legal Society, Secretary of the Laurel Initiative, and Head Themis Representative. She was also a member of the International Scholars Society, Women in Law, and Women Business Leaders Bible Study.
Mary was also a member of Cumberland’s nationally ranked Trial Team and represented the school in several competitions including the American Association for Justice (AAJ) Student Trial Advocacy Competition, the Online National Competition, and the Medical-Legal Invitational at Hofstra in New York where she received a Most Outstanding Advocate Award.
During law school Mary received several scholarships and honors, including the John A. Armstrong Memorial Scholarship, the Andrew J. Crumpton Scholarship, recognition on the Dean’s List, and second place in the Heninger Garrison Davis Closing Argument Competition.
Outside of the office, Mary is an active member of Redeemer Community Church. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, running, trying new restaurants, and cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers!
