That philosophy came to life as we gathered to celebrate Administrative Professionals Day—an opportunity to recognize and honor the individuals who keep our firm running at the highest level.
A Celebration of Our People
This year’s celebration, thoughtfully planned by Mary Ashton Byrd, Head of HR and Culture, centered around the theme “Bloom Where You’re Planted.” It was more than a theme—it was a reflection of who we are. At HGD, we believe that when people are supported, respected, and given the space to grow, they flourish—and that growth directly impacts the experience we provide to every client we serve.
The afternoon began with a beautifully arranged luncheon catered by Olexa’s, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere where our team could step away from their daily responsibilities and simply enjoy being together. The room itself told a story. Each table was decorated with photos of our support team members—a meaningful touch that reinforced something we value deeply: every person at HGD matters, and every role contributes to our collective success.
The celebration was made even more meaningful by the presence of firm leadership, including Erik Heninger, Steve Heninger, Lee Gresham, Tim Davis, and Bill Bross. Their attendance wasn’t just symbolic—it was intentional. Each took time out of their day to be present, connect, and personally show appreciation for the support team. That level of leadership engagement reflects the culture at HGD: one where respect is lived out, not just talked about.
Small Moments That Make a Big Impact
One of the most memorable elements of the day was the bouquet-making station. With a wide selection of fresh-cut flowers, team members were invited to create their own custom arrangements to take home. It was a simple but thoughtful experience that allowed everyone to pause, be creative, and enjoy a moment of connection. Each bouquet was unique—just like the individuals who make up our team—and served as a reminder that growth looks different for everyone, but is always worth nurturing.
During the luncheon, Managing Partner Lee Gresham shared a few words of gratitude, recognizing the vital role our support team plays in every aspect of the firm’s success. His message was both sincere and direct—HGD does not function without the dedication, professionalism, and commitment of this group.
From managing client communications to keeping cases organized and moving forward, our support team is often the first point of contact and the steady presence behind the scenes. Their work ensures that every client experiences the level of service and care that defines HGD Law Firm.

The celebration continued with dessert and conversation, giving everyone time to relax, connect, and reflect. It was a moment to slow down and acknowledge something that often goes unsaid in the pace of daily work: that people matter here.
