Fighting for Women's Health: HGD Law Firm’s Commitment to Justice in Defective Product Lawsuits

At HGD Law Firm, we are deeply committed to protecting and advocating for women who have been harmed by medical products and pharmaceuticals that were supposed to help them—not hurt them. This Women’s Health Month, we’re shedding light on the critical cases we’re actively investigating and litigating on behalf of women across the country.

Every case we take on reflects our core values—Client-Centered, Integrity Driven, Resilient, Committed, Leadership Oriented, and Excellence Focused (CIRCLE)—and our mission to deliver justice with empathy, diligence, and strength.

  1. Depo-Provera and Brain Tumors

Depo-Provera, a widely used contraceptive injection, has come under scrutiny for its potential link to meningioma, a type of brain tumor. Research has shown that prolonged exposure to progestin—the hormone in Depo-Provera—may increase the risk of tumor growth. Women who used this medication and later developed meningiomas may not have been adequately warned about the risks.

HGD is currently investigating claims from individuals who developed brain tumors after long-term Depo-Provera use, particularly those who underwent multiple injections over several years.

  1. BioZorb Breast Marker Complications

The BioZorb implant—a device used during breast cancer surgery to mark the site for radiation therapy—has reportedly caused significant complications. Women have reported chronic pain, infection, hard tissue masses, and, in some cases, required additional surgeries for removal.

Recently recalled, BioZorb highlights a concerning failure in medical device oversight. Our firm is actively representing women who were implanted with this device and suffered complications as a result.

  1. Paragard IUD Breakage Injuries

The Paragard IUD, a hormone-free birth control device, has been the subject of over 2,900 lawsuits due to reports of the device breaking during removal. These breakages can lead to internal injury, infertility, and the need for surgery.

Many of these women were never warned of the risks, leaving them unprepared for devastating outcomes. HGD is fighting to hold the manufacturer accountable and ensure our clients receive proper compensation for their injuries.

  1. Talcum Powder and Ovarian Cancer

Thousands of women have used talc-based products, including Johnson & Johnson’s baby powder, for personal hygiene—only to later be diagnosed with ovarian cancer or mesothelioma. Scientific studies have suggested a link between long-term talcum powder use and cancer, yet manufacturers allegedly failed to warn consumers.

With nearly 60,000 lawsuits filed nationally, this is one of the largest mass torts involving women’s health in history. Our firm continues to represent clients harmed by talc products and stands with them in the fight for justice.

  1. Hair Relaxers and Reproductive Cancers

Recent lawsuits allege that chemical hair relaxers, especially those marketed toward Black women, are associated with an increased risk of uterine and ovarian cancers. Research published by the National Institutes of Health has confirmed a disturbing correlation between frequent relaxer use and higher cancer risk.

HGD is proud to advocate for women impacted by these products, many of whom were exposed to them from an early age without knowledge of the potential dangers.

Why This Work Matters

Women’s health products have historically been under-tested and under-regulated, with serious consequences. At HGD, we don’t just take on cases—we take a stand. Every client’s story is personal, and every fight for accountability is rooted in our belief that no one should suffer in silence.

If you or a loved one has been affected by any of these products, our team is here to listen, advise, and act. With 18 skilled attorneys and a 32-member support staff, we bring the full strength of HGD to every client we serve.
