As Governor Ivey put it:
"Dolly Day is a wonderful opportunity for Alabamians to celebrate the joy Dolly Parton brought to so many and the special legacy she created for our youngest learners. I encourage families across our state to mark the occasion in a way Dolly would surely appreciate by picking up a book, reading with a child and helping us inspire the next generation of Alabama readers."

In 1995, Dolly founded Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in her home county in Tennessee. What started as one small-town idea grew into an international literacy program that mails free books to young children every month.
Alabama jumped on board in 2023 with a statewide Imagination Library network, and the numbers are something to sing about:
