The legal profession is built on more than knowledge of the law—it is built on integrity, respect, and professionalism.
Heninger Garrison Davis is proud to share that founding partner Erik Heninger recently served as a panel speaker during the 149th Alabama State Bar Annual Meeting, where he joined fellow legal leaders for a discussion focused on one of the profession's most important topics: professionalism and civility among lawyers.
Why Civility Matters
While attorneys are often advocates on opposite sides of a case, professionalism remains essential to the fair administration of justice. Civility doesn't mean avoiding disagreement—it means treating opposing counsel, judges, clients, and everyone involved in the legal process with respect while advocating passionately for your client.
The panel explored how lawyers can maintain professionalism in challenging situations, foster productive relationships with opposing counsel, and strengthen public confidence in the legal system through ethical advocacy. These principles have long been championed by the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), which promotes integrity, honor, and courtesy throughout the legal profession.
A Career Dedicated to Excellence
Throughout his career, Erik Heninger has been committed not only to obtaining exceptional results for clients but also to mentoring younger attorneys and helping elevate the practice of law throughout Alabama.
His invitation to speak at the Alabama State Bar Annual Meeting reflects the respect he has earned among his peers and his continued leadership within the legal community. Whether in the courtroom, mentoring fellow trial lawyers, or speaking at legal education programs, Erik has consistently emphasized that strong advocacy and professionalism go hand in hand.
Representing HGD and the Plaintiff's Bar
At HGD, we believe exceptional legal representation begins with treating every client—and every participant in the legal process—with dignity and respect.
Erik's participation on this panel underscores the firm's ongoing commitment to professionalism, ethical advocacy, and preserving the integrity of the justice system. These values guide every case we handle, from complex catastrophic injury litigation to mass torts and wrongful death claims.
As leaders within Alabama's legal community, our attorneys are honored to contribute to conversations that help shape the future of the profession while continuing to advocate for individuals and families who need experienced trial lawyers.

Continuing to Raise the Bar
The Alabama State Bar Annual Meeting brings together attorneys from across the state to learn, collaborate, and strengthen the profession through continuing legal education and leadership programming.
